About the World’s Greatest Starch Factory

This is our story: In March 2008 we took on the Starch Factory in the long narrow shaped island in the Baltic sea or in Swedish, “Stärkan” Stärkelsefabriken på Öland. It’s a 1916 brick building that once was transformed from factory to Mom and Pop style diner. We want to make it A Home In the World and a workshop in the years to come, “The World’s Greatest Starch Factory”, and invite interesting people, thinkers and doers, local and urbane entrepreneurs, researchers, artists and craftsmen/women to host small-scale independent film-, theatre-, dance-, literature-, philosophy-, crafts-, cooking- and research activities. Feel free to leave a comment, or send us an email! We, filmmaker and musician Klas Ehnemark and anthropologist Jennifer Spratly, wish to thank the most inspiring couple we know; architect Lars Danielsson, and musician/pioneering gardener Louise Danielsson who will say “the garden is my life’s workshop”. Hear their personal story in “THE HOUSE THAT WANTED A GARDEN – a dialouge on the environment”.
